WELCOME HOME

PARTY AT PUKAKI DOWNS A surprise party was held at “Pukaki Downs,” Mackenzie Country over the week-end to welcome home Mr and Mrs P. Gibson. More than 150 friends assembled from the Mackenzie and is far afield as Fairlie and Timaru. After being entertained at the homestead, all adjourned to the woolshed where dancing was carried on , until the early hours. Speeches of welcom- were made on behalf of the Tasman Valley Rifle Club by Mr W. Seymour for the Hermitage by W. Snushall and for Mackenzie residents by Mr W. J. Allan. Mr Gibson suitably replied. Music was supplied by radio, record and local talent. Mr J. Nesbitt carried out the duties of M.C., and W. Elliott gave a vocal solo.

Prior to her marriage Mrs Gibson (nee Miss Mollie Reid) wr~, entertained at her home “Greenbum.” Sherwood Towns, by local residents. On behalf of those present Mr C. H. Holland presented the guest of honour with a cheque. The evening was spent in dancing and community singing.
