In every department the customs returns for the financial year ended to-day show a large increase over the figures for the previous year, customs revenue itself revealing an increase of more than £84,000. Beer duty has risen by £37,306, sales tax by more than £25,000 and petrol tax by £12,481. The following are the figures for March, together with those for the same month last year.
