Ltd. will hold an auction sale of pianos, cleaners. furniture, bikes, electric ranges, wringer, etc. Visitors to the Whakarewarewa thermal reserve, who included several of the officers of the French cruiser Jeanne d’Arc, were provided with an unexpected spectacle last Saturday morning, when the famous Waikite geyser, which has been quiescen- for more than two years, suddenly became active. For upward of an hour the geysers replayed shots to a height of 50 feet, and continued at short intervals throughout the day with short'" displays. Up to about two years ago the Waikite geyser could ayways be relied upon to provide visitors with a display several times a day. but with the renewal of activity of the Pohutu ~°vser, Waikite became inactive, and until Saturday it had remained so, though Pohutu also has been quiet for many months. H. Allchurch and Co. advertise their sale at the Rialto to-day commencing at 10 o’clock with hundreds of cases of tomatoes, etc. At 2 o’clock they are selling on account of Mr F. H.
