Late last night the sky was clear with a light southerly blowing. Records at Timaru Park yesterday were:— Barometer —29.97. Max. temp.—74. Min. temp, on grass—4l.3. Wind—N.2. Rainfall—Nil. Sunshine—lo. 7 hours. Sunshine to date this year—4sl.4 hrs. Sunshine to date last year—439.7hrs. IN OTHER CENTRES Christchurch— There was brilliant summer weather yesterday the sun shining brightly throughout the day. The maximum temperature was 68.6 degrees. A moderate easterly wind later became stronger. The barometer at 5 p.m. registered 29.855 degrees and was falling. Ashburton— Fine conditions prevailed yesterday. There was a light wind from the north-west. Geraldine — Bright sunshine throughout the day fresh easterly wind in the early evening. Waimate (for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday): Thermometer, maximum 65.0; minimum, 47.0; bright sunshine 5 hours 30 minutes; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours 72. Yesterday was fine and warm. Dunedin— Bright sunshine prevailed yesterday morning but a fresh northeasterly breeze kept the temperature down until early in the afternoon, when a sudden shift of wind to the south-west Was accompanied by a rapid rise in temperature. The maximum was 71 degrees. The barometer fell to 29.80 inches early in the afternoon and then rose quickly. CANTERBURY FORECAST Special to " The Timaru Herala ’ WELLINGTON, March 10. Winds —Light to moderate and variable, later turning to :mth-westerly again and freshening. Weather—For the most part fine with cool to moderate temperatures, but some local showers possible.
