INQUESTS OPENED
EXHUMATION OF BODY IN ONE CASE By Telegraph—Press Association HOKITIKA, January 10 In connection with the death of Richard Kennedy at Karangarua on November 6 last, after police representations, an official party headed by Inspector Scott, Drs. Bird and McKay, a health inspector, and the coroner reached Karangarua on Sunday, being held up by floods and washouts. The grave was reopened and a post-mortem held. At the inquest formal evidence was taken and later medical evidence, the proceedings then being adjourned sine die. The party returned to Greymouth this evening. The coroner also opened an inquest this evening touching the death of James Barclay Douglas, farmer, Arahura Valley, who was found hanging from a tree a mile from the residence of his stepson, at Koiterangi at 7.30 o’clock on Sunday night. He had been in indifferent health for some time. He
was a native of Arahura, aged 59, and leaves a widow, two sons and one daughter.
