TO VISIT DOMINION
PROMINENT PARLIAMENTARIANS By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, January 10, Three prominent members of the Empire Parliamentary Association who are delegates to Australia for the one-hundredth and fiftieth anniversary celebrations of New South Wales will visit New Zealand next month, according to advice received by the Clerk of Parliaments, Mr C. M. Bothamley, who is honorary secretary of the New Zealand branch of the Association. The visitors will be Dr. Hugh Dalton, M.P., a leading member of the Labour Front Bench in the House of Commons, delegate from the United Kingdom branch of the Empire Parliamentary Association; Sir Howard Degville, K.8.E., secretary of the United Kingdom branch of the Association; Lieutenant-Colonel A. R. Gordon, D. 5.0., M.P., Financial Secretary to the Northern Ireland Ministry of Finance, delegate from the Northern Ireland branch of the Association. The New Zealand branch of the Association proposes to tender the visitors a luncheon at Parliament Buildings when they are in Wellington on February 17. Lieutenant-Colonel Gordon represents East Down In the Unionist interests in the Parliament of Northern Ireland. He is accompanied by Mrs Gordon and will leave Sydney on February 11 by the Awatea for Auckland. During their stay in New Zealand, Lieutenant-Colonel and Mrs Gordon will be guests for part of the time of Mr Hamish Wilson, of Bulls, father of Mr G. H. O. Wilson, M.P. for Rangitikei, who is a member of the New Zealand branch of the Association. Lieutenant-Colonel and Mrs Gordon will be in New Zealand till March 2, when they will leave Auckland by the Wanganella for Sydney. Dr. Dalton is a leading member of the Opposition Front Bench in the House of Commons, and was until recently chairman of the British Labour Party. He occupied the position of Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs in the Labour Government from 1929 to 1931, and represents Durham, Bishop Auckland division, in the Commons. Dr. Dalton expects to leave Sydney on February 11 by the Awatea for Auckland, where he is due on February 14. He will be in New Zealand till February 25. Sir Howard Degville is expected to arrive at Auckland on February 14.
