BEAUTIFUL GERALDINE
To the Editor or “The Timaru Herald” Sir—May I offer a suggestion through your valuable columns to those visitors at Timaru who would perhags like a change by taking a run into the country. There are many beautiful spots in South Canterbury, but as far as my own personal varied career is concerned, I have yet to f. id anything better than beautiful Geraldine. Situated only some twenty-three miles from Timaru on the main asphalted road, one is kept continually interested by the ever-changing visual beauty, which each turn of the road discloses. In Geraldine itself the main attraction is the magnificent panoranmic view to be had from the top of Priest’s Hill. From here one can see for miles flatlands, hills, rivers and sea coast, and each day nature paints this scene to suit her evervarying moods. On the side of this hill, one can ramble through dense native bush to one’s heart’s content. Through the town flows a river which acids its own natural beauty. The motor camping ground is not only beautiful and sheltered, but is also very canveniently situated, being only a few yards from the shopping centre and adjacent to the well laid-out domain with its various sports areas and swimming pool. Within easy distance of Geraldine are numerous attractions for the lovers of natural scenery, and a visit to such places ns Peel Forest, Waihi Gorge, Te Moana Huts, Pleasant Valley, etc., will give a lasting pleasure. The fishermen, too, will find sport in abundance. Maybe, sir, there are some who are contemplating retiring, and to these I would suggest that before doing so they should visit and see for themselves what I call, Beautiful Geraldine.—l am, etc., NEW ZEALAND FIRST. Geraldine, January 8.
