HEAVY RAIN Owing to the high nor’-wester in the ranges and the excessive heat, the Rangitata River is in ■> flooded condi-
tion. The huts on the northern end of the bridge are surrounded to a depth of three feet. The river is bringing down an exceptional amount of debris.

Miss Fern Gillespie, “The Triangle,’ who has been visiting Christchurch, has returned home.
