Central Europe is still freezing and many parts are snowbound. Four men in attempting to cross Venice lagoon by gondola rae trapped in the ice and are in danger of freezing to death. Efforts are being made to secure a powerful naval boat to push its way through the ice an<j rescue them. Germany experienced the heaviest snowfall in nine years. Many rivers are frozen and are holding up shipping. Rumania's train services are disorganised by snow. Wolves, frantic with hunger, attacked the villagers and even appeared in the suburbs of Bucharest. Austria, Hungary and Czecho-Blo-vakla are covered with snow and ice. The Danube is thickening and shipping has been suspended.
