RIFT IN VVAFD PARTY United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received January 5, 10.30 p.m.) LONDON, January 5. The Cairo correspondent of “The Times” states that the manifesto issued by Ahmed Maher on the Wafd Party, who supports the King, and his adherents, sets out the reasons for discontent with Nahas Pasha’s leadership, and calls on the Waf dists “who still cherish the true principles of Wafdism.” to rally round them. It is understood they plan to form a new Wafdist Party, called the SaadistWafdist Party. A meeting of the Wafd Party decided to hold a National Congress shortly, to consider the political position,” says the Cairo correspondent of “The Times.” It was also decided to expel four additional deputies.
A Cairo message reports that Parliament has been prorogued until February 2.
