WAR ON JEWS
VIOLENT MEASURES IN RUMANIA United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received January 5, 10.30 p.m.) LONDON, January 5. The Bucharest correspondent of “The Daily Telegraph” says: “Every day brings more violent anti-Semitic measures. To-day the Minister of Public Works, issued the following decree: "As it has been established that many Jews employ young Rumanian girls as servants with the intention of using them in the white slave traffic, no Jew may employ non-Jewish servants under 40 years of age.” Dozens more of Jewish newspapers in the provinces have been closed down.
It is reported from Bucharest that a run on the National Savings Bank followed an unfounded rumour that the Government intended to close the bank. Measures have been taken to end the panic.
