Both “The Times” and the “Daily Telegraph” in leading articles on the prospects of the New Year fix on economic improvement as the most important and hopeful line of advance on both the Home and international planes. The “Daily Telegraph” says: “The negotiation of a trade agreement with the United States is one of the most important tasks of 1938, and all the omens for its success are good.”
