STEADY MARKET IN SYDNEY United T’ess Association—By Electric Tel egraph—Copyright (Received January 3, 10.35 p.m.) SYDNEY, January 3 At the wool sales to-day, best descriptions, when showing length, were firm at closing December rates, but wools lacking length and faulty lines were from par to 5 per cent, lower. Competition came mainly from Yorkshire and the Continent, with limited support from Japan. Greasy Merino fleece realised to 27d per lb. The offering was 12,211 bales, 10,286 bales being sold, including 1810 privately.
