Nov. 26, 12.4 a.m. CONDITIONS IN TIMARU A strong southerly wind arose on Wednesday night and in the early mornin- yesterday there was a heavy fall of rain and hail. The shower was of short duration, however, but the wind continued boisterous and chilly. By daylight the sky had cleared considerably. Conditions during the day. although sunny, were spoiled by the wind, but in the evening the weather was calm and pleasant. Records at Timaru Park yesterday were:— Barometer—29.4o. Max. temp.—63.2. IN OTHER CENTRES Christchurch: A south-westerly gale blew in Christchurch yesterday morning bringing occasional showers of rain. The weather cleared during the afternoon and the wind moderated considerably. The maximum temperature was 58.1 degrees. The barometer showed a rising tendency and registered 29.66 in at 5 p.m. Ashburton: Conditions were dull and bleak yesterday morning, with an overcast sky and a south-west wind blowing strongly at times. Four points of rain were recorded in the last 24 hours. Geraldine: Dull and overcast in the morning, bright sunshine later; fresh southerly wind. Rainfall at "Waitui” recorded at 9 a.m. yesterday, five points. Temuka: After a dull morning ~.th a strong wind from the south, the afternoon was fine although the wind did not abate.
