ELOQUENT TRIBUTES

Jean Batten was entertained at tea by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress at the Mansion House. Those present Included Viscount Wakefield and Mrs W. J. Jordan. Woman’s Part "It is impossible to paj an adequate tribute to this great woman who has done so much for civilisation,” said Lord Semphill in toasting Miss Jean Batten at the annual dinner of the Women’s Automobile Sports Club. Proper achievements added glory to the women pioneers in aviation. The feats of Miss Batten and Flying Officer Clouston did honour to New Zealand. Those present included Sir Malcolm Campbell, Lt.-Col. Moor Brabazon, the first Englishman to fly in England, and Amy Johnson.
