TEMUKA DEFEAT HIGHI'IELD At the Temuka green yesterday the Temuka Ladies’ Bowling Club defeated Highfleld by 62 points to 59. The results were (Temuka names first):— Mesdames Martin, Clinch, Cain and Fletcher (s) 22 lost to Mesdames Moore, Patterson, Sathinger and Mithall (s) 27; Mesdames Taylor, Johnston, Winter and Shand (s> 18 lost to Mesdames Wamsley, Keast, Price and Wallace (s) 19; Mesdames Whitehead, Marshall, Cameron and Davis (s) 22 beat Mesdames Harding, O’Bune, Morrison and Howard (s) 13. Draw for Pairs The draw for the first round of the championship pairs, which is to be played by December 10 is:— A section—Mesdames Davis (s) and Taylor v. Mrs Cameron (s) and Miss Thomson; Mesdames Shand (s) and Harbrow v. Mesdames Martin (s) and Wilson; Mesdames Joynt (s) and Earl a bye. B section.—Mesdames Johnston (s) and Whitehead v. Mesdames Winter (s) and Robins; Mrs Cain (s) and Miss Stewart v. Mesdames Marshall (s) and Cotter; Mesdames Fletcher (s) and Clinch a bye. GENERAL NEWS Due to contributions of £l5 each from the Temuka Borough Council and the Geraldine County Council, the Ladies’ Rest Room committee decided at Its annual meeting, that in future the conveniences of the rest room would be free. Making the seventh request received this year, an application from the Claremont School Committee for the
use of the domain for a picnic on December 15 was granted at the Domain Board’s meeting on Wednesday evening. In support of funds for the Domain Queen (Miss Dorothy Laurenson) a shop day is to be held in the town on December 7.
