SCHOOL MATRON TO RETIRE
TRIBUTES TO MISS E. SCOTT After 18 years as matron of the boarding department of the Timaru Boys’ High School, Miss E. Scott has decided to relinquish her position at the end of this year. Reporting to last night’s meeting of the Board of Governors the rector (Mr A. G. Tait) said that Miss Scott had given faithful service and all boarders who have passed through the school owed her a debt of gratitude for the care she had given them all. She had been efficient in every department of her work and her relations with her staff and with the Board of Governors had always been of the most cordial nature. Her place would be a difficult one to fill but her successor would find a well organised Institution, the efficiency of the matron’s department being due to Miss Scott’s skill and thoroughness in every branch of the work. Regret that Miss Scott was retiring was expressed by the chairman (Mr H. H. Fraser) who ’raised her services to the school. The resignation was accepted with regret and Miss Scott’s services were placed on record.
