Following 149 cases of typhoid at Croydon there are now flVv cases in one family in North Kensington. The Ministry of Health has directed that inquiry be made into causes of the outbreak, and steps have been taken to cope with it at Croydon, where the epidemic was at first attributed to watercress, sales of which at Covent Garden have been instantly brought to a standstill. So far there have been eight deaths. STATISTICS OF NOTIFICATIONS DECREASE THIS YEAR British Official Wireless (Received November 24, 6.30 p.m.) RUGBY, November 23. The chairman of the Hospitals and Medical Supplies Committee of the London County Council stated at the Council meeting that the number of cases of typhoid and paratyphoid notified so far this year in the London area was 192, compared with 242 in the corresponding period last year, and with the figure of 264, which was the average annual number of notifications during the last ten years.
