Sir John Simon (Chancellor of the Exchequer) addressing the League of Health and Beauty at Southampton, cited the youth movements of Herr Hitler and Signor Mussolini and urged Britain to inaugurate a youth movement excelling any in the world. The Berlin correspondent of “The Daily Telegraph” says: Herr Hitler took the chief part in consecrating the new “Ordensburg,” erected at Sonthofen, for the culture of German youths. Dealing with a system which is the culmination of a semi-monastic order, with four castles in different parts of Germany, Herr Hitler said the whole juvenile population would be combed out for potential leaders, for whom 22 training schools would be created. Uniforms, books and pocket money would be provided during the course extending between the ages of 12 and 18 years, after which the first batch of 4000 would be apprenticed to trades. After that they would perform 2J years of military service. The course would admit to the universities without examination. The Christian teaching would be excluded in favour of the Hitler cult. A hotel would be erected near each castle and high school enabling 2,000,000 working men and women to spend a week’s holiday yearly in association with their future political leaders, which was expected to prevent the development of claustral abnormalities. The police confiscated four Polish newspapers for caricaturing Herr Hitler and Danzig also for referring to the “bestial training" of the Hitler youth movement. An official announcement couples the names of Herr Hitler and Danzig as if he were head of the free city.
