TIMARU WILL BE FULL
HEAVY HOLIDAY BOOKINGS Timaru is rapidly reaching the stage where it will be fully booked out for the Christmas and New Year holidays, according to a report submitted to the Chamber of Commerce last night by the organiser of the accommodation bureau (Mr J. Moyes). "Enquiries are fairly heavy this year and prices in some cases are higher than in previous years,” stated the report. “We are having a good deal of difficulty in obtaining full board handy to the Bay and have had to turn down quite a number of families lately as we can find nothing available for them. All the hotels and regular boarding houses have been fully booked for some time, and we are unable to obtain even good private board handy. "The matter of board is causing a good deal of worry at the present time. Houses are letting well and there is a good demand for the better class of house or flat.” In moving that the report be referred to the Publicity Committee, Mr G. H. Andrews said it should not be put abroad that Timaru was turning people away. He thought some effort should be made to interest people in providing accommodation for those who wanted to visit the town. Mr Andrews’ suggestion was adopted.
