METEOROLOGISTS
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON. November 24. Mr F. Entwhistle, of London, arrived by the Wanganella to attend the meteorological-aviation conference. He is superintendent of meteorological services for Empire Airways. He travelled as far as Sydney by air, in five different machines. He said that whereas the service is now by land ’planes, with no night flying, the service is to be inaugurated with flying-boats, which would travel by night and day. Different routes from the present would be used. All this meant plenty of work for meteorologists, who had to prepare the way for regular flying by establishing a network of stations. He said the problems of the Tasman were very similar to those of the North Atlantic, but free from such problems as ice formation on craft. Mr Entwhistle will return to Australia after the conference, to confer with the Commonwealth Weather Bureau, and then go to Canada to discuss with experts the results of flights and the observations made.
