WAR ON GANGSTERS
DRAMATIC POLICE MOVE AT HOLLYWOOD United Press Association -By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received November 23, 8.50 p.m.) NEW YORK, November 23. A series of dramatic moves have again thrown the spotlight on the murder of Hymi? Miller. A police squad recently formed to clean up the gangsters in Los Angeles, invaded a Pasadena movie set and arrested an extra named Frankie Fisher who has given considerable information concerning the crime.
The police also questioned Walter Friedman, former manager for Primo Camera, and Maxi Russ, also a fight manager. Both are being detained on suspicion for robbery.
A gunman, ta the early hours of the morning of November 15 entered the apartment of Hymie Miller, aged 31, a film actor and cafe owner, and fired four shots, blowing off Miller’s nose and wounding him ta the neck, hand and thigh. Miller was unable to describe the gunman. He heard a noise and woke up to see a dim figure in the darkness. He immediately opened fire. Miller was scheduler to appear in a srne in the film “Robin Hood” next day. Hymie Miller died from his wounds.
