TERRORIST LEADER CAPTURED
SUCCESS OF BRITISH OPERATIONS British Official Wireless RUGBY, November 22. Jerusalem Press messages report that Sheikh Farhan Saad has been arrested at Mazaar in Northern Palestine. Furhan Saadi is the terrorist leader who has eluded capture for about two years. Farhan Saadi was run to earth dramatically near Jenin by a detachment of the Second East Yorkshire Regiment, who scrambled up the precipitous hills to reach the village where Saadi was hiding. They surrounded the village under cover of a thunderstorm. The raid was a complete surprise. Saadi was found hiding in a wheat bin in a house armed with two revolvers, but he did not resist arrest. Two members of his bodyguard and several villagers were also arrested.
Saadi will be tried by a military court at Haifa on November 24. This will be the first trial under the new regulations, which invest the Officer Commanding in Palestine with complete powers over life and death, and from whose decision there is no appeal. It is expected that the summarly procedure of these courts will have a sobering effect In the Holy Land.
The military authorities state that there will be no delay in carrying out the sentences.
