FAREWELL FUNCTION STOCK AGENT PROMOTED Before his transfer to the staff of the Canterbury Farmers’ Co-operative Association Ltd., Tirnaru, his colleagues at the Geraldine Branch assembled to bid farewell to Mr A. F. S. Jones, who has been in charge of the local stock department for more than three years. The manager, Mr A. G. Brown, who made the presentation of a travelling rug on behalf of the staff, referred to the good qualities possessed by Mr Jopes. They regretted hjs departure to Tipiaru, biit wished him and Mrs Jones every happiness in their new sphere. Mr Brown’s remarks were endorsed by Messrs W. J. Harris (accountant), J. Social Evening Friends of Mt A. F. S. Jones gathered in Mr A. Parr's woolshed, “Brooklahds,” on Saturday to bid him farewell. During the evening, Mr A. Parr, on behalf of those present, presented Mr Jones with a fountain pen and wished him every success in the future. Opportunity was also taken to welcome Mr S. King who succeeds Mr Jones.

PERSONAL Mr W. S. Parr, South Canterbury Power Board senior maintenance officer at Geraldine, resumed duty yesterday after annual leave. Mr C. Armerdlng, the well-known Californian evangelist, will give an address in the Geraldine Mission Hall at 7.30 o'clock this evening, when his subject will be "Why are the Nations in Tumult?" The annual bazaar conducted by the St. Barnabas Guild, Peel Forest, will be held in the Peel Forest Hall on Saturday, December 11, at 2 p.m. “Procter’s,” the Opticians, Christchurch, will be making their next professional visit to Geraldine, on Wednesday, 15th December, when they may be consulted on all defects of eyesight at the Crown Hotel.
