PORTRAIT PRESENTED TO LABOUR CLUB By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, November 22. A life-size portrait of the Prime Minister, for the painting of which the English artist, C. H. H. Berry, was commissioned during Mr Savage’s recent visit to Great Britain, was presented to the Auckland Labour club to-night by the Mayor. Sir Ernest Davis. The president of the club, Mr to-night by the Mayor, Sir Ernest and also the Minister of Labour, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, who thanked the Mayor for his gift. It is proposed by the club executive to present the portrait after 12 months to the National Art Gallery. This course was approved to-night by Sir Ernest.

Mr Armstrong thanked the Mayor for his gift on behalf of the Prime Minister, and said Mr Savage had undoubtedly won a place as one of the greatest leaders New Zealand had known. In the short space of time that it had b - i in office, the Government had at least accomplished something in the interests of the people.
