GOOD PROGRESS MADE Sy Teiegraph—Press Association BLENHEIM, November 22. Providing no serious hold up is experienced in the acquisition of steel girders for bridge construction, the Minister of Public Works prophesies that work on the South Island Main Trunk will be completed in twelve mouths under the estimated time, according to Mr E. P. Meachen, Member for Wairau, who accompanied the Hon. R. Semple on an inspection of the line on Friday and Saturday. The Minister made a close inspection of the northern section, paying special attention to the modern machinery lately installed with the object of expediting tunnelling operations.
