CRICKET GOOD SCORES REGISTERED Good performances with bat and ball were a feature of the inter-club cricket matches played on Saturday. Toilers and Old Boys played a drawn game. Batting first Toilers passed the double century for th r loss of nine wickets and declared. Owing mainly to a fine performance by R. McDonald who compiled 78, Old Boys were able to play out time, making 118, with two wickets in hand. C. Baxter 11 was the only other Old Boys player to make double figures. H. Johnstone 67 and Heasley 42, headed the scoring list for Toilers. Waimate proved too good for Glenavy who batted r- ? man short. In, their first visit to the wickets the country club made 71. Waimate replied with 177 for seven wickets (declared) (L. Sutherland not out 45, A. Guy 42, E. Chapman 30). Glenavy’s second strike yielded 49, leaving Waimate with an eight point win. E. Chapman bowled with success taking six wickets for 19 runs and three for 7.
