AMATEUR ATHLETICS The Geraldine Amateur Athletic Club will open the season on Wednesday evening when a sports meeting will commence at the Geraldine Domain at 7 o’clock. The programme will include club events and primary and secondary pupils’ races for challenge cup events presented by Messrs G. Glover and C. Stringer and W. Eathome. The club has been well supported by residents in the matter of trophies, but the officials hope that this season there will be larger attendances of the public at the evening meetings which would greatly encourage the younger athletes.

Addresses by Mr C. Armerdtag will be given next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and the following week at 7.30 p.m. in the Geraldine Mission Hall. The subject to-morrow evening will be “Why are the Nations in Tumult?”

“Procter’s,” the Opticians, Christchurch, will be making their next professional visit to Geraldine, on Wednesday, 15th December, when they may be consulted on all defects of eyesight at the Crown Hotel. Appointments can now be made by ringing Mr Morris Williams, chemist, ’phone 61
