PRINCE GAOLED
SEQUEL TO VIOLATION OF PROHIBITION United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received November 21, 6.30 p.m.) HONOLULU. November 21. Prince Kawananakoa pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment. The sentences are cumulative, but may be modified to a total of two years in certain circumstances.
Prince Kawanakaua, aged 30, the last surviving male member of the Hawaiian Royal Family, was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment on a charge of violating a probation order arising out of his conviction for manslaughter following a motor accident in 1932. The charge resulted from the death of the prince’s half-caste common-law wife. Avella Kinslea, aged 22, after a party at his apartments on Waikiki Beach. Her throat was badly cut. The judge said that by living with Avella the accused had failed to comply with the conditions of the probation order.
