“OLD SCHOOL TIE”
LOSS OF TRADITIONAL INFLUENCE Uni ed Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received November 21, 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, November 19. Old school ties are fading, according to Lord De La Warr, speaking to school children, as Rector-elect of Boxhill private school.
“In the old days it was only necessary to march out into the world with the right school tie and be sure of a job. That is not so to-day, for most of you going to public schools. When you leave you will find, among many employers, not prejudice in your favour. but prejudice against you. They will be afraid that life has come so easy to you in the past that you will not put your backs into everyday drudgery.”
