Waihao Downs Club The Waihao Downs Tennis Club held a very successful afternoon on the occasion of the opening fo their 193738 season. Mr E. C. Wright expressed pleasure at so large a gathering and tendered a very cordial welcome to the visitors. He also stressed the need of another court and sincerely hoped that by next season, with the prospects of a large membership and Increasing public support, that they would have an additional court. He also took the opportunity to thank all those who had assisted the Club throughout the year, and specially the patroness, Mrs J. Falloon, for her support and for the continued use of her court. Mr Wright then called on Mr A. H. Turner, one of the patrons, to declare the season open. Opportunity was taken to present the trophies for last year, the results being as follows:—Mr A. H. Turner’s challenge cup, Miss Nancy Thompson; Mrs A. V. Richards’s challenge cup, T. Thomas; Mr G. Millar’s trophies for mixed doubles, Miss Nancy Thompson and H. Ward.
