Mr J. S. Rodger (Dunedin) is a guest at the Grand. Messrs W. A. Service, W. Lambert (Christchurch) and R. R. Hunter (Invercargill) are at the Balmoral. Mr J. Learmonth, of Masterton, has been appointed manager of the Palmerston North municipal gas department. Messrs A. Cossar, E. Richardson (Christchurch), V. Goddard (Dunedin) and J. Strang (Invercargill) are staying at the Empire. Mr J. Robinson, a well-known officer of the Customs Department at Auckland, has been transferred to New Plymouth as searcher-in-charge of the port. Registered at the Dominion are Messrs J. Mee (Dunedin), G. Peters, C. MacDermott (Wellington), D. Rollo, S. Howard (Christchurch) and J. S. Bayliss (London). The Rev. J. T. Holland, M.A., elder son of Bishop Holland, of Wellington, has been appointed Vicar of Featherston. He will arrive in New Zealand in December. After 60 years in the ministry and 12 years’ service as Anglican chaplain to the Auckland Hospital, Canon Haseldean has resigned as from the end of December.
