YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB

WAIHAORUNGA The Waihaorunga Young Farmers’ Club held its final meeting for the year at the Waihaorunga School. Mr T. Hurst presided over a large attendance of members and visitors. A proposal that all Young Farmers’ Clubs become members of the A. and P. Association was approved, and it was decided that the Club join the Waimate A. and P. Association. The secretary reported that the club would receive about 25/- from the Arno Club, being half-share of the proceeds of the combined meetings held at Arno. At the close of the meeting the chairman took the opportunity of thanking everyone for the support he had received while he had held office, and expressed a hope that the membership, which at present is 50, would be increased to double that number next year. Mr E. V. Lukey, Government vetinarian, was then introduced and delivered a lecture on “Diseases in Sheep.” He gave a very detailed account of numerous problems that a sheep farmer is likely to meet with’in the handling of sheep. Some very valuable information was given as to how to carry out treatment for various ailments. He also touched briefly on the handling of lambs at the freezing works and on hydatid disease in man and animal. After he had answered many questions, a vote of thanks was accorded the speaker.
