ODDFELLOWSHIP
SOUTH CANTERBURY DISTRICT The half-yearly meeting of the South Canterbury District M.U.1.0.0.F., was held at Makikihi on Saturday, the following officers being present: Prov. G.M. Bro. H. Hill, Dep. P.G.M. Bro. W. A. Dunstan, P.P.G.M. Bro. G Grandi, Prov. C. S. Bro. P. T. Knowles and District Trustee P. G. Bro. J. Roche. The delegates from the various lodges represented were as follows: Loyal Heart of Friendship Lodge— P.P.G.M. Bro. H. J. Dash, P.P.G.M. Bro. W. H. Hinch, P.P.G.M. Bro. J. D. Reid; Loyal Makikihi Lodge—N.G. Bro. W. Watson; Loyal Morven Lodge— P.G. Bro. R. Keen; Loyal Geraldine Lodge— N.G. Bro. A. H. Robertson; Loyal Timaru Lodge—N.G. Bro. R. H. Bryant, P.G. Bro. Geo. Glover. P.G. Bro. P. Hanlin, P.P.G.M. Bro. J. Martin, P.G. Bro. R. Mayer, P.G. Bro. W. Strachan, P.G. Bro. W. Tonkin. Prov. G. M. Bro. H. Hill extended a welcome to the officers, delegates and visitors present and expressed a hope that members would continue to work together in peace and harmony for the welfare of the order. The G.M. eulogised the work of the Late Bro. Geo. Hilton, P.P.G.M., who acted as District Treasurer for a number of years and expressed regret at his passing. The balance-sheet was adopted, the delegates expressing their satisfaction at the credit balance of the various funds of the district. It was unanimously agreed that Dep. P.G.M. Bro. W. A. Dunstan, of Loyal Heart of Friendship Lodge, Waimate be raised to G.M. P.G. Bro. W. Tonkin of the Loyal Timaru Lodge was nominated for the position of D.P.G.M. and P.G. Bro. Geo. Glover was appointed treasurer. Timaru was selected as the place of meeting for the next district meeting. Copies of the general rules which had arrived from England were handed to the representatives of the various lodges. It was agreed that a letter of appreciation be sent to Bro. T. Webb, of Loyal Timaru Lodge, for the time he had put in and the work he had done in connection with the juvenile movement, also fraternal greetings to old Timaru members, Bro. R. Earl and G. Hayward. After the meeting the ladies and members of the Loyal Makikihi Lodge entertained the delegates at dinner.
