Rix, former Canterbury representative who last year played for Star, the prospects for the Temuka Cricket Club’s team in the first grade competition this season are considered to be bright. An infusion of interest in the game among the younger members has resulted in more than enough having joined the club to enable a third grade team to be entered in the competitions. To enable the selectors to review the material available the two teams will be divided up for a match, captain’s team v. vice-captain's, at the oval on Saturday. The whole of the oval was recently thoroughly top-dressed, and proper match and practice wickets laid down. ST. PETER’S SOCIAL CLUB The final dance of the season of the St. Peter’s Social Club was held in the Parish Hall on Tuesday, there being 150 couples present. Solos were sung by Mrs F. H. Barnes thanked the patrons for their continued support throughout the year, and expressed a hope that it would continue for years to come. He also thanked those who had assisted to make the socials a success, and especially Mr A. G. Smith, who had done much good work for the club. PERSONAL Mr C.
