Oct. 27, 1.26 a.m. CONDITIONS IN TIMARU | The cold southerly weather on Sunday night cleared early yesterday morning, and after a light frost, conditions for most of the day were perfect, the sky being clear and the temperature warm. In the late afternoon, however, the sky became clouded. Records at Timaru Park yesterday were:— Barometer —29.74. Max. temp.—s 6.6. Min. temp, on grass—2B.2. Frost —3.8. Wind—S.W.2 (later 5.E.1.) Rainfall—trace. Rainfall to date this year—ls.7Bin. Rainfall to date last year—22.B2in. Sunshine —8.4 hours. Sunshine to date this year—l 264.7 hours. IN OTHER CENTRES Christchurch—The weather was fine and sunny yesterday, with a fr-sh north-east breeze. The barometer was steady and registered 29.95 in. at 5 p.m. Geraldine—Bright and fine during morning, fitful sunshine in the afternoon. Temuka—Yesterday was fine and warm with a light northerly breeze. The maximum temperature was 51 degrees and the minimum 28. The glass was falling last evening. Pleasant Point—Rain fell on 11 days during September, the heaviest fall beiijg on the 20th when 37 points was recorded. The total for the month was 1.79 in. Waimate (for 24 hours ended 9 a.m. .yesterday) Thermometer: Maximum 73.8, minimum 40.0; rain: 6 points; frost, 1 degree; bright sunshine: 6 hours 36 minutes; wind gauge: Miles run in last 24 hours, 35. Yesterday was bright and sunny with a cold breeze n evidence. Dunedin The sun shone brightly yesterday until the middle of the afternoon and the sky then became heavily overcast. A keen, south-west wind kept temperatures generally cool, but there were warm periods when the thermometer reached a maximum of 66 degrees. The barometer was Steady at 29.85 inches. CANTERBURY FORECAST Special to " The Timaru Herald" WELLINGTON, October 4. Winds—Light to moderate and variable, with west to south-west predominating, but north-easterly at times on th coast. Weather for the most part fair to fine; temperatures cool to moderate. Seas —Moderate to rather rough.
