ST. ANDREWS

OPENING OF TENNIS SEASON The St. Andrews Tennis Club’s season was officially opened by the patron, Mr H. B. S. Johnstone. Mr A. Leckie (president), in Introducing Mr Johnstone, said the club had passed through its first two seasons with one court, but was now able, through the generosity of Mr Johnstone in assisting the club with a loan, and a strong membership of keen players, to make available a second court, which was most essential and enabled the club to look forward to a successful season. Mr Johnstone expressed pleasure in being asked to open the club’s third season, and wished all concerned a happy and prosperous term. He congratulated the officers and those responsible for the formation of the club, which was a great asset to the district. Miss Johnstone hit the first ball over the net after which the afternoon took the form of a tournament.
