SCHEME FOR ASSISTANCE PROPOSED United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received August 25, 1.24 a.m.) CANBERRA, August 24 The Prime Minister (Mr J. H. Lyons) speaking in the Federal House announced that the New Zealand, British, Canadian, and Australian Governments are considering the terms of an agreement for assistance for British shipping in the Pacific. Mr Lyons said: “All the outstanding features of a four party agreement, which provided for the construction of two new liners have been accepted by the Commonwealth. It is hoped that notice of acceptance by other Governments would be received within a few days. A Bill to authorise the Commonwealth to enter into an agreement would be introduced during the present session. It is anticipated that an agreement would be signed at an early date.
