MINERS’ CLAIMS
DISCUSSED AT CONFERENCE WITH OWNERS United Press Association —By Electrio Teleernnh —Copyright (Received July 19, 11.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 19. The first conference on the coalminers’ claims, for increased wages and shorter hours, held to-day, between the Broken HUI Proprietary, Limited, of Newcastle, and miners’ delegates, resulted in a rejection of the miners’ log, but the company agreed to confer further if the miners’ delegation modified and revised ttie claims. The Broken Hill Proprietary owns a number of northern and southern mines, and these are treated independently in the negotiations with the miners’ leaders.
