ELDERLY WOMAN’S DEATH By P'as* Association INVERCARGILL. July 19. Through her clothing catching alight v.hen she was sitting before the fire on Sunday evening, Mrs Mary Baxter Jones, aged 83. residing at Drummond, suffered severe burns and death from shock occurred a few hours later. At the inquest to-day. David Jones said his mother hai been an invalid for some years and resided with him. At 5.30 on Sunday evening she had been sitting in front of the Are in her room, and her sudden cries attracted attention. It was found that her clothing had caught alight and she suffered burns about the body before her blazing clothing could be removed. The Coroner returned a verdict of death from shock following burns.
