MR NASH ABROAD

Mr Nash, earning the title of the Flying Minister within 36 hours, flew to Pittsburgh from Washington and returned to Washington and then flew to New York. In an interview with the Associated Press, Mr Nash said he was most satisfied with the discussions. He considers a complete air service from America to New Zealand can be achieved in reasonable time. He also believes that the difficulties of the Canada-New Zealand agreement have been eliminated and satisfactory conclusions reached. He is amazed at the United States’ interest in New Zealand’s programme. “Mr Cordell Hull told me that the Administration was closely watching the results. He was confident that Mr Roosevelt would go to New Zealand immediately he relinquishes the Presidency. Mr Nash is discussing AmericanNew Zealand trade here, especially fruit and butter. He will leave for Balboa on July 18, via Kingston, and sails in the Mataroa on July 23, after discussing New Zealand-Panama trade.
