The total amount applied for in tenders for £35,000,000 of Treasury bills was £69,020.000. The average rate per cent, for bills at three months was 10/0.99d as against 11/0.17d a week ago. FLAMING OIL MENACE TO ATLANTIC CITY United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph —Copyrle h t (Received July 18. 6.30 p.m.) ATLANTIC CITY, July 17. Flaming oil was sprayed on 10,000 spectators when some petrol storage tanks exploded. Injuring 175 persons, 38 of whom are in a critical condition in hospital. Many persons were trampled in making efforts to escape through the streets. The gutters flowed with blazing petrol, menacing the homes in a large area. The fire was extinguished with sand from a neighbouring sea beach. The Fire Departments from six cities struggled for a whole day before they extinguished the flames. It was chiefly firemen who were hurt.
