Flaming oil was sprayed on 10,000 spectators when some petrol storage tanks exploded. Injuring 175 persons, 38 of whom are in a critical condition in hospital. Many persons were trampled in making efforts to escape through the streets. The gutters flowed with blazing petrol, menacing the homes in a large area. The fire was extinguished with sand from a neighbouring sea beach. The Fire Departments from six cities struggled for a whole day before they extinguished the flames. It was chiefly firemen who were hurt.
