WAIMATE
WAIHAORUNGA YOUNG FARMERS Mr Ivan Hurst presided over an attendance of 25 members at a meeting of the Waihaorunga Young Farmers’ Club. It was reported that trial plots had been given to the club and the committee was left to make final arrangements. Messrs I. Hurst, C. Whatman, J. Barclay, and G. McKenzie were selected to represent the club in a debate against the Hunter Club. Mr G. Barclay was appointed selector of future debating teams. After discussion on holding of field days it was agreed to devote one day to Southdown sheep, and one to the vaccination of ewes. The speaker for the evening was Mr V. Collins (Timaru), whose subject was “Wool.” His talk was illustrated with samples of the various breeds and types. Mr A. Falloon proposed the vote of thanks to the speaker. The chairman reported that Mr J. D. Wraight (Timaru) would address the next meeting on “Subterranean Clover.”
