BRUTAL ASSAULT
HOTEL WORKER SENTENCED By Telegraph—Press Association BLENHEIM, July 16. Describing the conduct in the affray as both brutal and vicious, the Chief Justice, in the Supreme Court this morning, sentenced Leslie Wilson, hotel employee, Pic ton, who was found guilty yesterday of assaulting Charles Herbert Brogden, at Picton, on June 6, causing actual bodily harm, to 18 months’ imprisonment with hard labour. Brogden suffered a fractured leg, rib nose and other injuries. Henry William Smith, who was found guilty of assault on Brogden, was granted probation for 12 months, conditional on paying the costs of the prosecution, £l9/4/-.
