July 16 A message from Allen (Oklahoma) says that three armed bandits, Peter Rcxler, Fred Tindell, and Charlie Chapman, who escaped from the Texas prison or} July 8, kidnapped Baird Markham Junr., aged 21, the son of a wealthy oil man, from Wells, where he was working on a vacation from Yale. Markham was forced into a stolen motor-car. and held for a hostage Posses are guarding and searching roads throughout the State. A later message states that Markham was released unharmed.
