DAIRY FARM COSTS
A REPORT PREPARED By H»«s> A/worlatlnn WELLINGTON, July 15 Tlie Dominion president of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. Mr W H. Mulholland, made the following statement in connection with the report of the special committee of the Union on Increases in dairy farm costs:— “Tlie use of a standard of 60001 b of butterfat per unit of labour was taken merely’ because it was the standard of efficiency postulated by the Government representatives to the discussion with the committe of the Farmers’ Union on dairy farm wages and. haring been postulated by the Government, was accepted by us merely for the purpose of a standard for calculation. I would like to state emphatically that the Farmers Union by /its use of this figure, to no way put it forward as the Union's considered opinion of the standard of efficiency of tlie labour unit in the dairy industry. The Union has at no time sufficiently investigated this question to have been able to express a definite opinion, and it was used merely because of the reason stated."
