CATHEDRAL IN WELLINGTON By Telpuronh—Press Association WELLINGTON, Ju6ly 15 "Please do not misunderstand me if I say that when visitors come to Wellington I feel I almost have to apologise to them for the Church of England," said the Bishop of Wellington, the Rt. Rev. St. Barbe Holland, in urging before the Wellington Diocesan Synod the need for a Cathedral. They see permanent buildings growing up on all sides to express the strength and stability of our corporate life; they see a city quickly awakened to a sense of dignity and greatness in its political, commercial and business life, but they see nothing to suggest the majesty of God in a community that is expressing in its buildings the greatness of man, nothing to suggest the permanence and eternity of God in a world that is characterised by change.” His Lordship suggested that a Cathedral project would be a fitting centennial effort.
