SLOW DRIVING

MOTORIST FINED For driving too slowly in Evans Street on a race day, Francis Arthur Jarrett was fined 10/- with costs 10 - by Mesrs J. W. Holdgate and P. B. Foote, J.’sP. in the Timaru Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Defendant’s speed was 12 miles ,an hour, said Traffic Inspector Newcome and he held up 26 cars behind his own as a result. In reply to the Bench the inspector said that one similar case had been entered. Accident Recalled. An accident on June 22 at the corner of Elizabeth Street and Grey Road was recalled when Earl Meyer was charged with driving a car without a license. It was explained by Senior-Sergeant Hewitt that defendant had been involved in an accident in which a boy had been injured. Inquiries, however, revealed that defendant was not to blame for the accident. Defendant said that his license had expired and he had failed to renew it. A fine of 20/- with costs was imposed.
