FAIRLIE
WATER SUPPLY AND DRAINAGE SURVEY COMMENCED A survey to prepare a report on a high pressure water supply and underground drainage in Fairlie has been started by Mr H. G. Royds, consulting engineer, Christchurch. Mr Royds stilted yesterday that he was naturally not in a position to say much about the proposals until he had completed the survey, but he could say that Fairlfe was excellently situated for the instalscheme. A survey was undertaken by the Public Works Department yesterday in order to obtain data for the tar sealing of the full width of the main street. MISSION SUPERINTENDENT The Rev. J. G. Laughton, Maori Mission Superintendent of the Presbyterian Church, will visit Fairlie on Sunday ar.d speak at the evening service at St. Columba Church. The Rev. Laughton has been in charge of Maori mission work for many years, and its closely acquainted with the culture of the race. He is on a tour of the South Island with a view to placing the work more prominently before the people of the church. BASKETBALL The Fairlie Old Girls’ basketball team to play High School A is as follows: J. Turner, E. Cooper, J. Cader.heaff, N. Hall, A. McElhinney, K. Welsh, M. Cuprtis, D. Saunders and E. Ackroyd.
