CYCLING

TIMARU CLUB YEAR'S WORK REVIEWED Eight open races and four track meetings were held by the Timaru Cycling Club last season, according to the annual report of the club which was presented to the annual meeting on Wednesday. Mr J. Davey presided over a good attendance. Annual Report The report stated that the entries for the races had caused a good deal of concern. At times the large fields had encouraged the committee to increase the prizes only to find at the next race that the entries had decreased. During the season this fluctuation had been increasingly noticeable and the committee had towards the end of the season been in a quandary as to the prizes it should give. The entries for the championship had been disappointing but some good racing had resulted from the event. Special thanks were due to Mr D. Cremin, who had undetaken to collect subscriptions. His action had been largely responsible for the credit balance shown on the year’s working. Thanks were also due to Mr C. H. Foley for the help and interest he had taken in the club, and to all who had contribut'd to the club's funds. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report, expressed satisfaction at the success of the past season. The report was adopted. Mr G. V. Tozer, who has been secretary of the club for a number of years, notified that he would be unable to accept office for a further term.
